How the Essex Year of Opportunity is broadening horizons
26% of adults in Essex have low (or no) qualifications. We will address this skills gap.
The Essex Year of Opportunity will empower people with training and education. By upskilling, and building a love of learning, people can discover new career opportunities.
Essex has an above average unemployment rate for 16 to 25 year-olds. We will help prepare young people for adulthood.
The campaign will help young people realise their potential. By seeing what's possible and engaging with employers, young people can develop skills for life.
Everyone should have equal access to future jobs and independence. By sharing learning, advice and hands on experience, the Essex Year of Opportunity will broaden horizons from a young age.
Vulnerable young people are more likely to be not in education or employment (NEET).
Every young person in Essex deserves to grow achieve their ambitions. We will share specific support with vulnerable young people, including looked after children, care leavers and those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Essex Year of Opportunity will help young people overcome employment barriers.
